The Reason for the Journal

I'm sure I'm not the only writer who has floundered when it came to choosing a niche.

I wanted to start this blog for ages, but always I was held down by fear of doing the wrong thing. I couldn't commit to a single niche. Couldn't imagine limiting my imagination that way, but that seemed the only path to success, so i'vve been stuck in limbo.

I won't lie and say I'm ready for that sort of commitment. But recently I realized that I wasn't writing to succeed, but to write.

It seems rather simple, but it was an epiphany for me. If this blog makes money, that would be great. But more importantly, if it doesn't, it would still be great.

It's a journal! A diary!

I just want to write about the things I'm doing, the things that interest me.

The goal is to look back on this post in a while and cringe at my childish and poor writing. I want to look back through my whining journal and see that something has changed. With any luck, that something will be me.
